I have been an attorney for 21 years working primarily with families. After an initial start doing workers compensation, I spent nine years as an assistant county attorney handling child protection, child support, juvenile delinquencies/truancies, guardianships/conservatorships and mental commitments in southern Minnesota. In the late 90's I headed up a special grant to develop and teach battered women's advocates in basic housing laws along with handling housing and divorce cases.  In 2000 I spent 7 months handling bankruptcy cases for families in financial crises. Since 2001, I have worked exclusively on family law matters involving divorce, post divorce, custody, parenting time, child/spousal support and property matters. My dedication to my client's having successful resolution of their family matters is based on my personal experience in being divorced and successfully raising two children in a bi-nuclear family situation.  My philosophy is that Children are not a prize to be won.  They deserve the love and affection of both parents in their life.  In my practice, I see my job as assisting individuals and parents through the legal maze so that they can focus on healing and moving forward with their life.

My volunteer work for which I recently received recognition was due to my work as a volunteer with Central Minnesota Legal Services.  I am a regular volunteer at the Law Clinic located in the Wright County law library.  It is a program that allows individuals 15 minute consultations with an attorney.  I also regularly handle family law cases through Central Minnesota Regional Legal Services on a pro bono basis. (If you are in need of pro bono representation, please see our resource page for contacting your local legal aid office to enquire about their requirements for service.)  In addition, I volunteer teach the legal process section of the Parenting through Divorce Class in Wright County.  I am committed to providing this service to parents who need to know the legal process and how to develop child friendly parenting plans.

On a personal note, my father and grandfather were also attorneys who taught me that the law was an honorable profession that demanded my integrity and perseverance on behalf of others.  In addition to my legal work, I have raised two children to adulthood, I sing regularly in the church choir, and I am blessed with one grandson.
